Description
Summary:This thesis deals with the issue of large memory access times in cache coherent non uniform memory access architecture multiprocessor systems. Specifically this thesis addresses the problems of false sharing and poor locality that reduce the benefits of dynamic memory management schemes for large memory page sizes. This thesis proposes two new schemes, subpart migration/replication and partial page invalidation for better dynamic memory management. New hardware designs are suggested to incorporate these schemes. The new schemes are implemented on the RSIM multiprocessor simulator and their performance advantages are measured for various benchmark applications.
