Description
Summary:Teachers in a restructuring high school faced a series film Inc. of events that exacerbated the turmoil of an already stressful change process. The proposed campus redesign was to establish new organizational structures, including a magnet school, which could sustain an envisioned faculty culture having higher professional expectations. Each faculty member was offered opportunities to acquire a variety of innovative, instructional strategies and to participate in the campus decision-making process - actions that should have contributed to teachers' efficacy by raising professional expectations and, more importantly, greater student achievement. Despite the adoption of promising new structures, several critical events impeded the initial progress toward developing the envisioned, more efficacious, professional culture.
