Description
Summary:Effects of atomic coherence and interference on optical properties of resonant media are investigated, with particular emphasis on their physical origins,. practical realization and possible applications. These include the design of proof-of-principle demonstrations of lasers operating without population inversion and of transparent materials with resonantly enhanced index of refraction, investigation of various mechanisms for resonant enhancement of nonlinear optical processes, and development of new approaches for high-resolution laser spectroscopy.
