Description
Summary:A railroad bridge monitoring system with fiber optic sensors has been designed and implemented. In addition to fiber optic strain sensors, a new fiber optic continuity sensor for crack detection is introduced to supply information about the monitored structure. Electrical strain gages are also monitored structure. Electrical strain gages are also strain data. A remote access scheme was developed to monitor the sensors at another site through telephone lines. Comparable sensor signals from nine positions were obtained. The calculated normalized MSE (Mean Square Error) between fiber optic sensors and foil gages was in the range of 0.002 fiber optic sensors and foil gages was in the range of 0.002
