Summary:In low-earth-orbit (LEO) satellite applications, frequency offsets due to Doppler can be large, and can degrade significantly receiver performance. In this thesis real-time implementation trade-offs are analyzed for a GMSK modem operating under large frequency offsets, using a fast, blind frequency compensation algorithm derived recently. The GMSK modem and frequency compensation algorithm is implemented in real-time on a DSP processor.
