Description
Summary:Antikaon production from heavy ion collisions at energies
available from the Alternating Gradient Synchrotron at the
Brookhaven National Laboratory are studied. This is carried
out by extending the relativistic transport model ART 1.0 to
include antikaon production from baryon-baryon, meson-baryon,
meson-meson interactions. The final-state interactions of
antikaons via either absorption or elastic scattering by
nucleons are also considered. To compare with the available
or future experimental data, we have calculated the antikaon
rapidity distributions, transverse mass spectra and
collective flow. Medium effects on these observables due to
the mean-field potential have also been investigated. It is
found that antikaon is a better probe of the medium effects
than kaon.
