| Summary: | The aim of this dissertation is to identify the perfomance of the housing programs from the government sponsored enterprises (GSEs) such as GNMA, FNMA and FHLMC, and their influence on household mortgage finance patterns for borrower groups with low- to -moderate income, new starters, and minority households in medium size metropolitan areas of the United States. The main issues that the present study will investigate are: (1) identify the effects that the GSEs have on borrower groups to test the significance of the relationship between secondary mortgage loans and homeownership patterns; and (2) identify and report recent mortgage lending trends in geographically defined areas (central, non-central city) within nonconsolidated metropolitan statistical areas (MSA); (3) identify whether the secondary mortgage loans are reaching their intended policy goals on their target income populations. |
