Item Description:One of the Cushing Library/Rare copies is bound in olive green morocco by the Doves Bindery, is issued in slipcase with matching portfolio and contains an autograph letter from T.J. Cobden-Sanderson on Dovers Bindery letterhead, a leather morocco monogram bookplate of Charles C. Kalbfleisch, and a bookplate of the original owner and recipient of the letter, Henry John Bell and his wife Minnie Caroline.
One of the Cushing Library/Rare copies is bound in cream silk which is embroidered. Upper cover embroidered in gold and coloured threads, with sequins, depicting an anthropomorphic mouse walking through the countryside carrying a basket of fruit, with a tree and the sun setting in the background, embroidered border of foliage and fruit above and below. The binding was possibly the work of one of the expert embroiderers at the Royal School of Needlework. Inscription in ink to first blank page.
