Description
Summary:This study investigated the effect of student participation
in an alternative school offering comprehensive services to
at-risk students. More specifically, this study investigated
the impact of participation in an alternative school on the
achievement and persistence of at-risk students. Additional
analyses investigate differences in achievement and
persistence related to level of self-concept of at-risk
students participating in an alternative school. Focus group
interviews were used to determine differences in the
perceptions of at-risk students in an alternative school
offering comprehensive services and at-risk students in the
traditional program. The interviews were also used to obtain
participating at-risk students' evaluation of the specific
programs offered at the alternative school. Finally, this
study investigated the differences in the perceptions of
students and educators in the alternative school offering
comprehensive services.
