| Abstract: | In the form of three essays, this dissertation addresses issues related to failed bank auctions and bank takeovers. The first essay empirically tests the theory-suggested hypothesis that there is an under-bidding strategy in FDIC failed bank auctions. The second essay analyzes one aspect of the FDIC auction process--the aspect of information. The third essay evaluates the wealth effects of the bank takeovers in the 1980s. |
