| Summary: | This study compared the moral reasoning ability of professional students attending medical school with those attending divinity school. The instrument used to measure moral reasoning was Rest's Defining Issues Test. The first hypothesis, that professional students with a background in liberal arts have a higher moral reasoning ability than students from other backgrounds, was supported (p<.0001). However, the evidence did not support the second hypothesis which posited that divinity students have a higher moral reasoning ability than medical students. Additional results indicated that female professional students have a statistically significant (p<.003) higher moral reasoning ability than male professional students. |
