Description
Summary:Abstract: "Usability and human factors are important aspects in determining the success of a large expert system. A perfectly functional system is not necessarily a usable system. Often, end-users are neglected in the development and installation of a system. Lacking end-user involvement makes a functional, practical and usable expert system difficult to build. To address this problem, we identify key issues encountered in the development of a large scale, widely deployed, integrated expert system and demonstrate steps taken to overcome these issues. This paper shows the importance of end-users in the development of a large expert system, ISPBEX (Integrated Southern Pine Beetle Expert System)."
