| Abstract: | An integrated activation and radiation shielding code package was developed to operate on a workstation based on two major codes that perform the multi-dimensional transport calculation (TWODANT) and the activation calculation (REAC*2). Several coupling codes were created to link these two codes together. An additional code was written to read the photon transport results from TWODANT and to convert the spatial fluxes into dose rates. The various strategies that were implemented in order to perform the calculations within the memory limitations of a workstation are presented. A proposed fusion ignition device, known as IGNITEX, was used to test the code package and to show its usefulness. The results of the activation and shielding analyses for IGNITEX are presented along with a discussion of the code package's performance characteristics. |
