| Abstract: | The purpose of this study was to determine the differences or relationships of General Educational Development test performance of adult inmate students to selected variables. Two hundred fifty inmate students of the Windham School System, Texas Department of Criminal Justice-Institutional Division, were randomly selected for this study. The subjects were first-time testers for the GED certificate. Significance was found between performance on the GED test with educational achievement and instructional hours using Pearson Product Moment Correlation statistics. The t-test revealed that computer assisted instruction and teacher certification were not significant. The ANOVA test revealed that teacher experience was not significant, and site custody level, although not significant, was nearly significant. A multiple regression model with the inclusion of educational achievement, instructional hours, and site custody levels resulted in significance findings in determining the combined effect on GED test performance of inmate students. |
