Newport, (Rhode-Island) October 9, 1786 : State of Rhode-Island, &c. The following draught of an act was laid before the General Assembly at their last session, and is now published by their order. An act to stimulate and give efficacy to the paper bills emitted by this state in May last.
State of Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations. In Council of War, March 12, 1779 : Whereas by a vote of the 11th of this instant, this Council did resolve, that the sum of twelve thousand pounds lawful money should be immediately struck off in treasurer's notes ... and there being a tax ordered by the General Assembly of sixty thousand pounds ... resolved, that the treasurer ... receive all such notes ...
An act declaring what is, and shall be, lawful money of this colony : and for the better ascertaining contracts, and other securities that shall hereafter be made for the payment of money; and for the more equitable discharging of contracts, and other securities for the payment of the paper bills of this colony.
Newport, June 19th. 1751.
