Abstract:The essays that together make up this dissertation investigate in three essays the consequences of quality uncertainty under asymmetric information. The first essay, "Procurement Decisions, Reputation Acquisition, and Innovation in the PC Industry", theoretically and empirically analyzes reputation acquisition and innovation in the personal computer industry. The second essay is "A Note on Two Related Models of Reputation Acquisition" in credit markets. The third essay investigates "The Economics of Noisy Signals".
