Description
Abstract:A study of diffractive production in 27.5GeV/c proton-proton interactions is presented. The detector that was used to take the data and the techniques that were used to analyze the data are also discussed. The results are presented as cross sections for the diffractive components of seventeen exclusive final states. Several of the final states were studied in more detail by histogramming the masses for several particle pairs. Diffraction was found to be present in every final state studied. The percentage of diffraction was measured to be an average of 16% for all final states studied. It was also noted that diffractive events tend to decay via the fragmentation model of hadronization.
