| Abstract: | A microstrip ring resonator using GaAs materials was characterized by optical excitation technique. Opto-electronic mixing of an optical signal and a microwave signal utilizing a nonlinear response of a Schottky diode in the ring was demonstrated, and a nonlinear signal at 13.453 GHz corresponding to the fourth resonance of the ring was obtained. A GaAs traveling-wave photodetector with the coplanar strip line structure was attempted, and the interference effect of the traveling-waves due to the input signals was proved. To provide an optical signal at microwave frequency, an injection-locked beating technique was described, and the signal at 13.2 GHz was demonstrated. |
