| Abstract: | This dissertation presents a unified approach to modeling a large class of patrolling repairman systems. In a typical patrolling repairman system, stochastically failing machines are attended by a single repairman. Such systems are found in many modern industrial applications. Stochastic processes that underlie the system behavior are identified. Under certain conditions the probability structures of these stochastic processes are characterized as semi-regenerative and Markov renewal. Such a characterization allows development of distributional and mean value measures of system performance. Some example systems are treated to expose computational details, to verify results, and to demonstrate new results. |
