Abstract:Trityl hexachloroantimonate has been shown to polymerize cyclic ethers readily (i.e., tetrahydrofuran, dioxolane, dioxane, etc.) No reports utilizing this cationic initiator to polymerize three member ring ethers (epoxides) exist. The polymerization mechanism of the greater than three member cyclic ethers by Ph₃CsbCl₆ are fairly well documented. Such is not the case for the three member cyclic ethers. ...
