| Abstract: | This dissertation is concerned with the factorizations of Hotelling's T [superscore 2, underscore 0], Pillai's V and Roy's maximum root criterion corresponding to the factorizations of Wilk's [Lambda] for testing the adequacy of s hypothetical discriminant functions. The proposed functions may either be given in the p-dimensional x-space or the q-dimensional y-space. The distributions of these test statistics are considered when q < p and the functions are given in the dummy variables' space. Further, computer programs have been written implementing each of the test criteria and illustrative examples presented. |
