| Item Description: | The Californian Illustrated Magazine began publication under the editorship of Charles Frederick Holder. It contained many good illustrations and the articles were written by the best of the western writers and some of those from the East, Charles F. Lumis, David Starr Jordan, Gertrude Atherton, and Joaquin Miller were frequently seen in the Californian pages. In 1894, Edward J.
