| Abstract: | A new technology for fabricating internal mirrors in contiunuous lengths of optical fiber making use of arc fusion splicing is introduced. Application of these internal mirrors to delay-line signal processors and to interferometric sensors are discussed and experimental results are presented. Also, further applications of internal mirrors are suggested. This new technology could form a basis for a variety of new devices for fiber optic systems. Major improvements or new capabilities are expected in some areas. |
