| Summary: | Modern illustration has moved through various aesthetic categories. As they graduate from the restrictions of realism, illustrators have rediscovered the importance of the personal voice. This book is a survey of 21 contemporary illustrators who have developed an essentially individual life. They include Marshall Arisman, Seymour Chwast, Milton Glaser, and Maurice Sendak, represented by a superb collection of both black-and-white and color illustrations. More interesting, however, are the interviews. The question-and-answer approach provides fascinating glimpses of both the creative process and the technical procedures used by each illustrator.
