Reprint from the 5th and 6th editions, with reproduction of the original title-pages: "A Banqvet Of Jests. Or a Collection of Court, Camp, Colledge, Citie, Country, Iests ... The sixth edition, much enl. ... London, Printed for R. Royston, 1640," and "Archy's Dream, some times Iester to his Maiestie, but exiled the Court by Canterburies malice ... Printed in the yeare 1641." The earlier editions make no mention of the jester's name, and the use of it in the 5th and 6th editions may have been a mere trade device. cf. Pref. |
