Item Description:First published in Latin under the title Historiae de rebus Hispaniae, Toledo, 1592. Translated by the author into Spanish as Historia general de España, first published Toledo, 1601. Mariana extended the text in subsequent editions, later supplemented by Camargo y Salcedo and Varen de Soto, in the editions printed in Madrid, 1650 and 1670, respectively. The latter was probably the source of Stevens' translation into English.

Errors in pagination: pages 81-82, 87-88 and 91-94 misnumbered 89-90, 95-96 and 99-102 respectively (second sequence).
