Abstract:The primary objective of this study was to identify the goals of industrial arts teacher education in the future as perceived by knowledgeable people in the field. Secondary objectives of this study were: (1) to obtain the degree of consensus from experts for teacher education and curriculum development in industrial arts and (2) to assess the degree of agreement between industrial arts teacher educators and experts in the field on the importance of the identified goals of industrial arts teacher education. The study utilized two phases to achieve the stated objectives. Phase I of this study involved the use of a modified Delphi technique to solicit goal statements from a panel of 24 experts within the field of industrial arts. Two rounds were used to identify 29 goal statements for the future of industrial arts teacher education and to obtain the degree of consensus among the experts as to the probability of occurrence and the educational impact of each statement. Phase II involved a comparative study between a national sample of industrial arts teacher educators and the panel of experts to ascertain the degree of agreement on the importance of the goals identified in Phase I. ...
