Description
Abstract:An astrometric study of E-Bootis (a=14(superscript h)46(superscript m).8, δ=19°31',1900) also known as IDS 144468N1931 has been made using data from the IDS catalogue at the United States Naval Observatory for the orbit computation, and astrometric photographic plates from Yerkes Observatory for the mass ratio, parallax, and proper motion calculations. The orbital elements were found to be P = 149.50 ± 2.00 yrs, T = 1910.16 ± 2.00, e = 0.53 ± .003, Ω = 166°.9 ± 5.00, w = 21°.53 ± 2.00, i = 140° ± 2.00, and a = 4".758 ± .0049 and were in good agreement with the earlier results o f K. Aa. Strand (1937). The individual masses were found to be .6330 and .4680, indicating less total mass than was previously believed. Parallax was 0''.164, and proper motion components were O''.195/yr in x and -''.070/yr in y. The question of a third major body was ruled out, but the possibility of a minor perturbing body could not be discarded.
