| Abstract: | The numerical soultions to the compressible Navier-Stokes equations are obtained for the case of transonic flow through two-dimensional compressor cascades. Two implicit finite difference algorithms viz., the MacCormack scheme and the Beam-Warming scheme along with modified versions were applied to several internal flow geometries. The results obtained from the different algorithms were compared. Comparisons were also done with the inviscid Euler equation solutions obtained by other authors. Different types of boundary conditions have been considered. A turbulence model of the Baldwin-Lomax type was used in the present study, where applicable. Comparisons with the inviscid results point to the importance of viscous effects in transonic compressor flows. |
