| Summary: | Old Stone Arrow, the richest warrior in the Blackfoot tribe had offered two hundred horses for one of the magical fish-dog skins. It was a fabulous price, but to get one meant a desperate journey across a thousand miles of uncharted wilderness. For in the 1860's, the American West was still largely the domain of the Indian, and the vast stretch of land that lay between the Missouri and the Pacific was filled with warring tribes who were only too ready to cut down or enslave strangers, whether they were white or red. It would be madness for Tom Fox and two Blackfoot companions to travel the length of this hostile territory. And yet that was just what they proposed to do. Their goal was the Pacific Coast, where the mysterious fish-dog lived. It was adventure they were seeking more than fortune, and in the course of their perilous journey they had adventure aplenty.
