| Abstract: | An interactive microcomputer-based system to support multiple objective decision making predicated upon goal programming techniques has been developed. Two major phases constitute this research. In the first phase, performance of current goal programming algorithms on microcomputer systems were evaluated considering memory requirements, accuracy in the solution, and processing time. An analysis of these performances led to the development of an improved goal programming algorithm equivalent to the full simplex procedure, which was taken as a base for the interactive system. Additional programs to support sensitivity analysis were also developed. In the second phase, the interactive system was design, programmed, tested, and implemented based upon expected user and application problem profiles. The developed system can be used for solving a variety of business and industrial multiple objective problems of small to medium size, as well as an aid for instructional purposes. |
