| Abstract: | The purpose of this study was to profile the tenpin bowling industry in the continental United States and to examine the relationship between establishment success, expressed as annual operating profit, and selected operational and descriptive variables. Specific objectives were: 1. To provide a descriptive profile of the tenpin bowling industry, including such factors as economic viability, the physical plant, business operations and personnel. 2. To determine the relationships between establishment operating profit and selected factors related to internal operations, external contributors and level of consumption. 3. To develop a limited explanatory-predictive model capable of identifying variance in operating profit among bowling establishments along with predicting establishment operating profit based upon known or prejected operational, environmental and consumptive factors. |
