The area of study, student affairs, was further divided into the following five categorical subdivisions: (1) Student Discipline, (2) Student Programs (3) Student Orientation, (4) Extra-Curricular Activities and (5) Teacher-Staff Interaction. The study, including each of the five subdivisions, was analyzed to determine if principals and counselors did differ significantly in the way they perceived the counselor to function as a data source for decisionmaking in the actual school setting. Accordingly, the major hypothesis of this study was that no difference existed between counselor and principal perceptions of counselor utilization in decision-making by principals related to student affairs. The field study was conducted using seventy-five principal-counselor pairs randomly selected from size AAA and AAAA schools in Texas. Analysis of variance was used to determine differences between the responses of principals and counselors. Tests were also performed to identify school size personnel differences and interaction effects between school size and principal-counselor differences.
