| Abstract: | This treatise is concerned with the problem of determining recursive and non-recursive digital filter functions that satisfy classical band-pass response specifications. The significant contributions of this work are the generalization of existing design procedures and the development of an efficient numerical algorithm for the design of non-recursive filters. It is shown that existing functions for classical recursive filters are actually members of a common class characterized by a well-defined set of properties. An important implication of this result is the immediate generalization of design procedures to the treatment of multi-pass-band filters. Indeed, the delineation of the required function properties leads to the development of several new functions for the solution of classical filter problems. In order to provide insight into the efficiency of the new functions, results are presented which compare them to existing functions. ... |
