| Abstract: | The primary objective of this research is to provide an analytical solution to the problem of optimizing the transition of cannibalized systems under end transients, considering systems with multiple units, each having multiple components. The optimal system to employ is considered to be the system with the maximum equivalent annual revenue. The optimal policy also designates the optimal configuration, the number of operating units, and the spares of each component type, in addition to the optimal phasing out of a retiring system. The time dependent probabilities of each of the states of a general cannibalized system are derived under the assumption that time between failures is exponentially distributed. The necessary refinements of the functions for adaptation to computerization are presented. ... |
