| Abstract: | The two body states of neutron-alpha and deuteron-triton scattering have been treated using rearrangement collision theory as formulated by R. G. Newton. The 3/2⁺ excited state of He⁵ is explained as a strong coupling threshold effect instead of a resonance. In addition to the potential model studied, multichannel complex phase shifts are calculated for the n+α and d+T systems simultaneously. The results of extensive calculations to most of the existing data are presented and discussed. A good fit to all of the data is obtained. |
