| Abstract: | This study endeavored to determine if vocational-industrial teachers from small, medium, and large size communities have different views about elements that are helpful and elements that can be deterrents to professional development. Subjects for this study were listed in the Vocational Industrial Education Directory, Texas Public Schools (Texas Education Agency, 1972). Two survey instruments, the Vocational-Industrial Teacher Inventory and the School District Administrator Inventory, were developed by the investigator to identify those variables which either enhance or deter professional development of vocational-industrial teachers and to collect data about school district policies and administrators; posture toward elements related to vocationa-industrial teacher's professional development. The data for this study were collected, coded, placed on keypunch cards, and processed by the University Computer Data Center. A DISTAT program (Veldman, 1967) was used to provide descriptive data and ANOVAR program (Veldman, 1967) was used to determine whether or not a significant difference existed in the responses given by subjects from small, medium, and large size communities. The 0.5 level of significance was established. |
