Description
Abstract:(Diethylamino)dichloroarsine and bis(diethylamino)chloroarsine have been investigated as intermediates in syntheses which lead to a variety of arsinic and arsonic acids containing branched alkyl chains and poly(polymethylenearsinic acids). (Diethylamino)dichlorophosphine was also studied as an intermediate for the synthesis of di(alkyl)phosphinous acid, di(alkyl)phosphinic acid and poly(polymethylenephosphinic acids). The following compounds were isolated and characterized: (1) (diethylamino)dichloroarsine, (2) bis(diethylamino)chloroarsine, (3) (diethylamino)dichlorophosphine, (4) bis(diethylamino)chlorophosphine, (5) di(2-ethylhexyl)arsinic acid, (6) di(1-methylheptyl)arsinic acid, (7) 2-ethylhexylarsonic acid, (8) di(1-octynyl)arsinic acid, (9) 1-octynylarsonic acid, (10) poly(hexamethylenearsinic acid), (11) poly(octamethylenearsinic acid), (12) poly(decamethylenearsinic acid), (13) di-n-octylphosphinous acid, (14) di-n-octylphosphinic acid, and (15) poly(octamethylenephosphinic acid). These compounds were characterized by means of infrared and nmr spectroscopy, viscosity measurements, differential thermal and thermal gravimetric analysis.
