Description
Summary:This is a report on an experimentation of natural air flow through the openings of "common type" windows. The information disclosed herein has been obtained by testing some actual full-scale windows and also models of these and other common window types. Primarily, the experimentation was to gain knowledge of the air performance through the variations of sash openings of each chosen window type. Secondarily, models of these windows were tested to determine if the use of window models would be feasible in testing for similar information about any window type. It is anticipated that the findings contained herein will be of some assistance to the architect, the builder, the remodeler, and to the general public in the selection of window types to be installed in future buildings, and to relate to the owners of presently installed windows, the air performance through various window types.
