520 3 |a In this dissertation parameters of a particular specification (SPM Beta II - 1980) of the Relative Frequency Theory of Consumer Demand and Planned Income (RFTCD) proffered by Dr. R. L. Basmann are estimated using the method of moments and the 1972-73 Consumer Expenditure Survey data. Measurements of income inequality and consumption expenditure inequality are also obtained for ten populations whose defining characteristic is occupational category. In addition a preliminary relationship between the parameters of SPM Beta II - 1980 and certain population characteristics is estimated. The ultimate concern of RFTCD is to provide a link between time series and cross section data such that a timely and factual analysis of the impacts of controversial year-to-year changes in federal spending and taxation can be made.
