Description
Abstract:The Control Volume Based Finite Element Method (CVFEM) has been extended in two main aspects. The first is the integration of the vorticity-streamfunction formulation with the CVFEM. The key contribution of this work is the formulation of the wall vorticity which allows successful modelling of fluid flow problems with irregular boundaries. The resulting algorithm exhibits the desirable qualities of consistency, accuracy, and stability. The second extension is the use of the standard two-equation [kappa-epsilon] turbulence transport model in conjunction with the equal-order version of the CVFEM for turbulent fluid flow problems. The numerical results are realistic and encouraging, thereby laying the groundwork for more sophisticated turbulence models.
