Description
Abstract:We study the quark-gluon plasma using linear response theory. We find different characteristics for different kinematical regions. For low k, k[o] (and k < k[o]) we find collective excitations and dispersive behavior typical of plasmas. For k > k[o] we find energy absorbing and emitting processes. And for high k/T when k < k[o] we find the vacuum to have an amplifying behavior; we relate this to an instability of the QCD vacuum and a tendency to decay to the real physical vacuum. These findings are connected to the production of the quark-gluon plasma in heavy ion collisions.
